Where Jim Stands

WHERE JIM STANDS

Three things first. Everything else after.

When you live in Hammond, Crown Point, Valparaiso, or LaPorte, the federal government is not abstract. Trade policy decides whether the mill in your town stays open. Energy policy decides what you pay on your utility bill. Border policy decides whether your sheriff has the resources to do the job.

Jim's promise is to take every one of those decisions personally — to vote as if his own neighbors are sitting at the table when each bill comes up.

Steel Jobs and Region Industry

The fight: Protect the steel mills, manufacturing, freight, and rail that built Northwest Indiana — and bring more of those jobs home.

What it means at the kitchen table: When the mill in your town stays open, your pension is intact, your kid can get an apprenticeship instead of a five-figure debt, and Main Street has customers.

What Jim will do in Washington:

  • Measure every trade, tariff, and manufacturing vote against one question — does this protect Region steel jobs?
  • Push back on policy that subsidizes overseas competitors at the expense of Indiana mills.
  • Work across the aisle when the issue is steel.

Cost of Living: Utilities, Groceries, Gas, Housing

The fight: Cut the squeeze working families feel every month — starting with utility bills, which have climbed faster than wages and faster than any other line item on the kitchen table.

What it means at the kitchen table: Your NIPSCO bill, your gas bill, the receipt from a grocery run, the rent or the mortgage payment — those four numbers decide whether a household ends the month even or behind.

What Jim will do in Washington:

  • Introduce or co-sponsor cost-of-living relief — utilities, housing, groceries, child care.
  • Push back on energy policy that drives up Region utility rates.
  • Vote against new federal spending that fuels inflation.

Safer Streets, Secure Border

The fight: Back the rule of law in our communities. Secure the border. Give county sheriffs the resources to do their jobs.

What it means at the kitchen table: Whether your kids can walk to school. Whether you lock the side door at night. Whether your local sheriff has enough deputies.

What Jim will do in Washington:

  • Vote consistently to secure the border and back federal-state cooperation.
  • Support Lake, Porter, and LaPorte county sheriffs with federal resources.
  • Stand up for Indiana law enforcement against federal overreach.

Veterans, Faith, and Family

The fight: Honor the veterans who built this country, defend the right of every Indiana family to raise their kids by their own values.

What Jim will do in Washington:

  • Fight for veterans' health care, mental-health support, and earned benefits.
  • Defend religious-liberty protections for churches and faith-based schools.
  • Stand with Indiana parents on education and upbringing decisions.

Second Amendment

The fight: Defend the right of every law-abiding Hoosier to own and carry a firearm. No federal registry. No federal red-flag overreach. No erosion of constitutional carry.

What Jim will do in Washington:

  • Vote against federal expansion of gun-control authority.
  • Defend reciprocity for concealed-carry permits across state lines.
  • Protect Indiana State Rifle and Pistol Association members.

Election Integrity

The fight: Protect the right of every legal Indiana voter to cast a ballot that is counted accurately, transparently, and without delay. Photo ID. Clean rolls. Honest counts.

What Jim will do in Washington:

  • Defend Indiana's voter-ID law against federal preemption.
  • Vote against federal mandates that weaken state authority over elections.
  • Support transparency in campaign finance — including for candidates who self-fund seven figures.

This Is the Fight. Now Help Win It.

Steel. Utilities and grocery bills. Safer streets. Veterans. Faith and family. The Second Amendment. Honest elections. That is the agenda. Help us deliver it.
